Why Plan Ahead for Home Care?
Planning for unexpected health issues is crucial for protecting your finances and ensuring you have choices for your recovery.
- The number of Americans over age 65 is expected to rise from 56 million in 2020 to 84 million by the year 2050.
- An estimated 40% of these adults will require daily assistance.
- Currently, about 73% of long-term care at home is provided by informal caregivers, such as family members and friends, who receive no compensation for their time.
- Many seniors mistakenly believe that Medicare covers the entire recovery period at home, but it actually has restrictions and limitations for skilled home care assistance.
- Adults aged 75 and older have an emergency room visit rate of 66 visits per 100 people, which is higher than the rate for all other age groups except infants.
